The home is a Kitchen/Family Room plan with a gated front courtyard known as a "Sierra Padre" plan. It is in great shape, thanks to attentive, full-time owners, and a fresh interior paint job. Desert Mountain is a thirty-four year-old, world renowned, 8,200 acre, recreation oriented development featuring a twenty-mile long private hiking, biking, and equestrian trail system in the Continental Mountains, in the property but on its northern edge, ranging up to over 5,000' in elevation, available to all residents. The split is about equal between part-time and full-time residents. The Desert Mountain Club offers to its members the use of seven major clubhouses, nine different dining venues, six eighteen-hole championship golf courses; one eighteen-hole par-3 course, a high-tech golf performance center, and four practice ranges. The other clubhouses are special in their own rights and combine to provide a terrific range of experiences for the members.
In addition to Desert Mountain being a place of surpassing scenic beauty, it is successful, too, with about 1,900 finished homes ranging in size from 1,800 to over 20,000 square feet and in recent sales prices from about $700,000 to over $15,500,000. Over sixty homes are under construction. Owners have invested over $30,000,000 in individual homes. It has attracted full-and part-time residents from all over North America and western Europe, most of whom seem to have made "having fun" a key priority in their lives. One thing that makes a lot of them happy is real estate taxes that are strikingly lower than what they are used to, particularly if "home" is or was in the Northeast, Midwest, or California. (2019 taxes on this home were only $5,555.80). The weather is famously sunny. Our risk of natural disasters is extremely low.
Day-to-day shopping needs for Desert Mountain owners are well-handled within about a ten-minute drive of the Front Gate by the merchants in the nearby towns of Carefree and Cave Creek. There are roughly 70 restaurants and bars within about sixteen minutes' drive. Our area is famous for world-class shopping, major league and collegiate sports, terrific air service, and a wide variety of cultural attractions. Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport is routinely forty minutes away or less from the Front Gate. Private jets come and go from Scottsdale Airport, about a twenty-five-minute drive from the Front Gate. Desert Mountain is within two and a half hours by car of normally excellent snow skiing in Flagstaff and offers easy access to the entire American West, including San Diego, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell, and a plethora of unbelievably beautiful places in Southern Utah. "Paradise" doesn't overstate it.
