During World War II, Phoenix experienced tremendous growth. Luke Field (now Luke Air Force Base), Williams Field, and Falcon Field brought the military population, and helped Phoenix become a distribution center for military supplies manufactured in the Valley.
Throughout the years, Phoenix has enjoyed steady growth. By 1997, Phoenix was considered one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas, second only to Las Vegas, NV.
Most recently, the Downtown area and the Central Corridor have experienced growth with numerous new restaurants, Hotels, Shops, and Businesses opening in the city.
